On June 30, the sign blew down when a storm hit Murdo. Winds of 70 to 80 miles per hour knocked the sign on its side. After months of reconstruction, the sign – featuring a '26 Nash – is ready to be displayed again.

"We've worked with sign companies throughout the summer in order to have the sign back by Labor Day," said David M. Geisler of bmw et">chevrolet the family-owned classic car museum. To accommodate more parking at the nearby Super 8 Motel, the sign was moved and rebuilt in 1993. That same year, a Daktronics reader board added to the sign, which was destroyed in June's storm. An updated reader board has been constructed for the new Pioneer Auto sign.

"It took months of labor, but we are thrilled to have our sign back up now," said Geisler. "The sign has been symbolic for the museum for decades."
